Bristol Counselling and Psychotherapy is excited to announce that we have joined hands with The Restore Trust to support those with complex needs in relation to homelessness, mental health problems, drug/alcohol dependency, and offending behaviour through a 12-week trauma-informed therapy programme.
We are proactive in gaining access to the harder-to-reach communities, and this therapy programme, aimed at those within the criminal justice system, is part of that vision.
For some, this may be the first time they’ve been given a space to talk about their own trauma and ACE’s (adverse childhood experiences). We believe therapy is key to reducing the reoffending rate in forming a care plan for those ready to integrate back into the community.
See below mental health stats in prisons in the UK:

Individuals involved in the criminal justice system have high rates of mental illness and the transition from prison to the community is a problematic time for the provision of mental health services with most services operating a 1-2 year waiting list. During this time, the reoffending rate is at its highest.
We believe therapy is key to reducing the reoffending rate in forming a care plan for those ready to integrate back into the community.
Suicide stats in the UK:

We have a solution in providing counselling based on a 12-week trauma-informed model to both those leaving prison and preparing to leave prison. Bristol Counselling and Psychotherapy is offering psychological and emotional support in their transition. Our 12-week trauma therapy programme also offers ‘reintegration into the community therapy.
